The Friends of the Somers Library provide support for the needs of a contemporary library. To do that, we seek community donations to fund programming and resources not provided in the operating budget, that are designed to benefit the diverse interests of our town and to keep our library vibrant. There have been library “friends” since its inception. Our most recent charter is from the University of the State of New York, granted in 1983.
The Somers Lions Club is a group of 120 dedicated men and women, young and old, who volunteer our time, skills and energy to make a difference in people’s lives, both in our Somers community and for the charities we support. Chartered in 1966, this year marks our 50th anniversary in Somers. We are proud to be a part of Lions Clubs International, the world’s largest service club organization with nearly 1.35 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in 197 countries and geographical areas, founded in 1917. Lions are individuals who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes and the organization’s motto is “We Serve.” Our Somers Chapter meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month and we welcome anyone who wants more information about joining to reach out to a member to discuss.
The Schoolhouse Theater presents a season of live, professional theater in the historic schoolhouse of Croton Falls. Each year, in addition to new plays and Broadway successes with all-Equity casts, the theater offers musical events, readings, works for children, workshops and classes as part of its outreach to the community.
